Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day! It has been yet another very busy week here at North Woods:

On Thursday, Ginny Hodder encouraged the Camping Board of Managers and special guest Ann Tikkanen, the CFO for the YMCA, to tackle the new five-year strategic plan. Thanks to Andy Doyle, John Keeler, John Trump, Dave Lucas, Karen Sabatino, Linda Todaro, Phil Dooher, Joyce Horner, Charles Sorenson and Bonnie Johnson for not only representing our camping family and providing such exceptional attendance, but for laboring late into the night.

On Friday, Fran Rogers and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy continued their generous string of donations. The latest gifts come on the heels of the desks, tables and file cabinets that have already brought a whole new look to many areas of camp. The stake rack truck was filled with a supply of storage lockers that will be used by everyone from seniors to adventure trippers to the maintenance crew.

On Saturday, Mike McCarthy and the volunteers continued emptying the barn, affectionately known as “Glenn’s Place,” by moving all the bed frames to the new storage zone in the Maintenance Emporium.

Carole Gary began her Mother’s Day weekend by organizing another crew of volunteers in the spring-cleaning and interior decorating of the Barstow Office and Infirmary. Jennifer Christian and Jason Menetti worked on rearranging the Drama room. Finally, our webmasters alphabetized the “Where R U Now” page in preparation for the much-anticipated flood of updates from alumni of all generations (hint, hint!). Send your notes to info@ymcacamp.net

Sunday brought beautiful sunshine to camp and some quite unexpected visitors. The Dalzells arrived by boat and personally RSVP’ed to Old Timers Weekend. Dave Norton, John Trump and Walter Parkinson have already confirmed their attendance. Greg and his mother, Michelle Davis, took a tour and we expect that he will continue the legacy of his great grandfather, Wilbur F. Storer, this summer.

We hope that more of you can free up some time to join us this coming weekend as we host our first user group of the season and continue to prepare the site for the summer!
