April Showers
|
| It's another beautiful day
at North Woods Camp! Actually, it is raining yet again and that is
fantastic news. The lake is slowly but steadily rising and showing hopeful
signs of recovery from the drought. The unpredictable weather has done
little to slow us down during the preseason.

|
| The April
alumni social event at Ponkapoag Outdoor Center complete with
sandwiches and soda instead of burgers and dogs due to the threatening
skies was enjoyed by everyone who attended. Unfortunately, the famous Bog
Walk had to be cut short due to a portion of the log pathway being
submerged.
However, the thrilling double overtime victory by
the New England Revolution at Foxboro more than made up for it and allowed
Nick Taylor the opportunity to get the last laugh at the expense of a
certain DC area native. |

The following weekend's festivities may have been
washed out, but again the pre-season progress continued unabated. Thanks
to Jayson Rogers for organizing Shirley's Shop and for lending a hand to
Mike McCarthy's efforts to upgrade Fireside. Herb Brasseur has already
managed to get the water hooked up in half of camp and the upper ballfield
bathrooms are already fully functional. |
|
| George Pacheco and Tom
Marden are even almost finished with the new bathrooms in the Roehrig
Center! |

Staff note: A change in the pre-season staff training schedule! Both the
Ropes Course and Lifeguard Training will take place during the week of
June 12th at camp. If you had intended to do both trainings, please drop
us a note so that we can make
different arrangements. There are still spaces available for those
interested and, of course, it's FREE!
Till next week,
