Early February Notes

February started off with a Bang!

We had our most successful night ever for Reach Out on Feb. 2nd and are just $8,000 shy of our goal. Thanks to volunteers Andy Doyle, John Trump, Eric Henchey, Ruth DeBay, Loretta Fleurs Goodwin, Steve Gordon, Charles and Cathy Sorenson and Bobby Morgenstern who came out that very cold night.

Special thanks to Bobby for hosting the phonathon at the Coldwell Banker in Wellesley! The wonderful environs certainly made it easier for all who participated.

Our final phonathon is on Monday, Feb. 7th at the Waltham YMCA. The
friendly competition between campaign teams is tight and this evening may well determine whether the Young Alums retain their bragging rights as the most successful group.

The Victory Celebration will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 9th from 6:30 to 9:30pm at the Charles River YMCA and all our volunteers and their families are invited!!

Those who have been making pledge calls from home, please bring your cards with you or get them in the mail. Those cards could well make the difference.

If you have not been contacted by one of our campaigners, please consider making a pledge. You can find all the relevant information here to help make your decision.

In other news:

- Almost all the '99 LITs have gone through their interviews and will form a solid core of the 2000 CITs. All returning applicants to become Assistant Counselors are on deck.

- Next on the schedule is the first annual International Staff Reunion in London! For those of you within travelling distance of England, we will be staying at the Copthorne Tara Hotel in London from Friday, Feb. 11th through Feb. 18th. We will be participating in the Camp America fair at the Kensington Town Hall on Saturday and Sunday.

- Speaking of fairs, we just completed our third successful camp fair in successive weekends and the response has been quite gratifying. We are now ahead of last year in terms of camper weeks and have yet to send out our school distribution of brochures. If you know of anyone who would like to host a slide show, please drop us a note so that we can put it on the schedule!

- Finally, we continue to get updates from campers and staff. Dave Fuente is off to New Zealand and will return in time to join the North Woods Tripping Staff 2000 and Andy Sherman is down in Aiken, SC at the WW Long 4-H Leadership Center and will return in May to head the Forestry Patrol. If you are a former camper or staff member and have not visited the alumni page and/or sent in your update, please take a moment to do so!
