Summer is still months away but the pace in the camping offices continues to pick up. Registrations continue to pour in and the phone seems to be continuously ringing off the hook. Thank goodness Catherine Jaroszewski has been kind enough to spend a portion of her Spring Break volunteering in the office. If anyone else has an interest in a similar behind-the-scenes view of the off-season, just come on by and we'll put you to work :-D

Jill Gary, George and Linda Pacheco headed down to Florida for the annual American Camping Association National Conference while Loretta and I hosted a Reach Out phone-a-thon at Waltham midweek. We have now passed the 75% threshold on our way to the 2001 goal thanks to the unbelievable efforts of both our volunteers and the beneficence of our camping family.

Our campaigners are still hard at work, but if you have not yet been reached this year, feel free to drop us a note. Likewise, if you know of any business or individual that is willing to donate an item for our Auction please pass it along. Members of the Wolfeboro Chamber of Commerce have been especially generous and there are a number of exciting new prizes this year.

Speaking of new, the climbing tower is virtually finished and will be a wonderful addition to our ever-expanding challenge course. Many thanks to John Lazarus and his crew from Northeast Adventure for their efforts in tackling not only the depths of the NH snow but also a merciless wind coming up off the lake.

Todd Fournier, Adventure Tripper extraordinaire, was just one of the visitors aplenty we have had this week who got a first hand glimpse of the new structure.

I am literally heading out the door for my trek to Columbus to meet Jamie Hodder and do some interviews at Ohio State while taking in the US - Mexico World Cup Qualifier (see if you can see us on the Deuce on Wednesday night, we'll be the ones in red!). But before I go there are some important events coming up over the next fortnight, so grab your palm pilots, filo faxes and calendars:

Saturday, March 3rd - Pleasant Valley Winter Reunion at Ponkapoag Outdoor Center at 1pm (for details call 617 - 927 - 8220)

Sunday, March 4th - North Woods Alumni Meeting/ a certain director's not-so-surprise Birthday Party at the Goodwin's at 1pm - no presents please (although we will be accepting items for the Reach Out Auction ;-P ) - just bring yourselves!!

Thursday, March 8th - Camping Board of Manager's Meeting in the Library at Central Branch (for details call 617 - 927 - 8026) - dinner at 6pm

Saturday, March 10th - Camping Celebration and Skate-a-thon at Wal-Lex beginning at 7pm (for details call 617 - 927 - 8023) - fun for the entire family!!

Speaking of important events...while we were off gallivanting overseas, a milestone was reached as one of my former CITs tied the knot. We are awaiting a complete report from all the Northwoodsmen in attendance, but our heartfelt congratulations go out to Matt Dooher!!

We continue to hear from alumni all over the world and I promise individual replies will be forthcoming, but for now welcome to our mailing list. Finally, our featured lost alums of the week are Dan Moalli and Gibby Buchanan - if you have their contact info, please pass it along!
