Health and Safety

Parents and Camp Staff hold one common primary concern:
the health and well-being of your child.

Every precaution is taken to prevent accidents and injuries
including training staff, site evaluations and
American Camping Association Accreditation.

If, however, the unfortunate and sometimes unavoidable happens,
and your child is hurt or becomes ill while at camp,
systems are in place to offer the
fastest response and best care possible.

North Woods and Pleasant Valley are also located
in a community serviced by EMS and 911.

Camp also employs two nurses
who are on call to respond to incidents.

Most camp staff are trained and certified
in First Aid and CPR and the local hospital
is within a fifteen minute drive.

Medical Information:

The YMCA of Greater Boston does not provide accident or health insurance for its participants.

Parents are responsible for all charges incurred if a camper visits an off-site physician or hospital. Insurance carriers and policy numbers are required to be on file at the Camp Infirmary for all campers. Any charges for prescription medications will be charged to the camper's store account.

According to American Camping Association and mandatory New Hampshire state regulations, a completed health form must be at camp on or before the date the child arrives and no child will be allowed to stay in camp without a completed health form. We reserve the right to refuse any camper who does not comply with this request. Please keep in mind that this is for the health and safety of everyone involved.

Footwear: It is camp policy to discourage the wearing of any type of sandals on a regular basis. Sturdier footwear (sneakers, socks, hiking boots) should be worn at all times due to the rocky, uneven and "rooted" terrain at camp.
