With the help of Dan
Broadley folding hundreds of copies hot off the presses
as his first act as a CIT, the latest Northwoodsman will be
arriving in
mailboxes across the country shortly! Our final 2001 calendar stuffing
will
be on Monday, January 8th and if you are able to help, please drop us a
note - we could always use assistance in the office during this crunch
time
for mailings.
Crossing Huntington Avenue on my way to the office last night I bumped
into
none other than Nick Taylor. He was
ecstatic at being able to finally get
his EC fleece hand-delivered and mentioned how he will be out of school
in
early May and is looking forward to participating in ALL the pre-season
work
crews prior to returning for the 2001 summer. Even his mother is looking
forward to our Mother's Day work weekend!!
At the local Bread & Circus we both stumbled upon Phil
Santoro, who was
excited to hear about the camp gathering at the Rillahan's
on Sunday. The
festivities begin at 3pm.
Spread the word and hope to see you there!
The last weekend of the holiday season was as busy as ever! On Friday, Andy
Sherman helped me load a truck full of furniture that had
been residing in
the Farmhouse. We were able to beat the snows to Boston the next morning
and
unloaded just as the first flakes arrived. Loretta and I are now finally
able to host folks at our Mass. Ave. apartment!
My thanks to John and Cathy
Keeler for hosting the Goodwins for a delightful
break on the Cape. I never tire of the wonderful stories and it was an
all
too rare moment to sit back and relax among such wonderful camping
friends.
John has graciously volunteered to spearhead the Old-Timer's weekend
again
and one project that has already made the list is the bridge behind the
Roehrig Center.
We brought the New Year's in with some surprise guests from afar. Both
Jurrit Rodenhuis and Norman
Regg were amongst those who were in attendance
from the camping family at our little bash in Boston. We wish them all
the
best for the coming year and a safe trip back to Holland and Germany
respectively.
Jennifer and Jason have been working valiantly to deal with the
overwhelming
number of Early Bird registrations and they report that we are far ahead
of
last year's numbers at this time. There are already five LITs
signed up and
the Forestry Patrol and Adventure Trips are likewise
receiving tremendous
interest.
Finally, we have just received word that we have been accepted as one of
the
branches that will be participating in the YMCA
World's Largest Run! For
years we have had staff members and even campers waking up at the crack
of
dawn to go running to the sign (and we are not even counting those
forays
during the Treasure Hunt). Well, we knew they were training for
something
worthwhile! Many more details on this event at the Rillahans...
