Holiday Greetings from Camp!

Let me begin with a major correction to my last post. The Winter Reunion will be on SUNDAY, January 7th at the Rillahans in Andover, not Saturday. Please help spread the word! Those that cannot wait to gather or plan to be in Boston for First Night festivities, feel free to drop by our little gathering on Mass. Ave. All are welcome.

It is definitely that time of season! Thanks to Dave Liebowitz and Jayson Rogers for coming by and helping out with the first round of calendar stuffing last week. Our second round begins this Thursday afternoon and will last until it is all done. So, if you have a free moment in between rushing out to the malls for all those bargains, please come lend a hand. Drop by the Camping offices at 316 Huntington Ave (conveniently located near both the Green and Orange T stops) and help us out with the holiday crush of outgoing mail. Hundreds of camping friends are awaiting the Northwoodsman and more hands will mean I will get far fewer paper cuts :-)

Loretta and I spent a wonderful weekend up at camp. The walk along the horse trails with the frozen snow crunching beneath our feet and the sounds of the birds above our heads was easily one of the highlights of the year. As my darling wife would say, "boy, these two sure don't get out much!" MichaelKatie and Susannah McCarthy provided a lovely Christmas dinner which we were able to share with Herb and Evelyn Brasseur. It is so good to see Herb laughing again as he regaled us with stories about their days in the truly arctic Alaskan outback. Alas, the subzero temps did our little vehicle in and we had to find alternate transportation back to Beantown.

CIT applications and references are already rolling in and Dan Broadley wins the prize as first to schedule his interview.

The Search Committee is busy tracking down former campers from all eras and would love your assistance. As it is the 150th year of the YMCA, our goal is to find at least that many lost alums. This little Treasure Hunt is the first of many stages in our planning for the 75th anniversary of camp. If you know of a family member or friend who would enjoy receiving the Northwoodsman please send us the relevant contact info!

Feliz Navidad! For our Latino contingent and Rich Sherman who will be spending the next semester down in Nicaragua. The lengths some go to avoid this bitter winter ;-P
