Fall is here and that means a belated return of the North Woods and
Pleasant Valley news & notes!! Since I am in Boston for but a
moment with access to my computer, this will be quite an
abbreviated version. With all the troubling news about, it is time for
something a little more uplifting.
First and foremost our hope is that all of you and yours are safe and
sound! Thanks to all of our overseas friends, especially our British,
French, Canadian and Venezuelan families, who sent such lovely
notes of support and condolence during this time of national tragedy.
We fervently hope that the journeys of our many international
staff members have not been disrupted too much as they wend their way
from sea to shining sea. I ran into Rob Pearce at South Station
and he is doing well, albeit concerned that his rain stick was going
to slow him down a bit at the security checks now in place. Jill Gary
was not quite so lucky as a European adventure resulted in her
being stranded for days in London. Godspeed to all the traveling
members of our camping family.
The post-season has been a busy one indeed and was a huge success
thanks to those who pitched in to help with our school groups. Our
first fall work weekend is scheduled for this Friday, Sept. 28 through
Sunday, Sept. 30 and all are invited to attend. After our projects are
done we may even get to have a little fun on the climbing tower
followed by songs, stories and s'mores around a bonfire! So come
join in the fun :-D
It has also been quite a busy time for those members of our camping
community who continue to affirm that "Keeping Families
Strong" is more than a mere slogan:
Congratulations to Dave Lucas on his announced engagement to Melissa!
Must be something in the water that we're serving at board meetings
this year... following so close on the heels of Ginny Hodder's news.
Helen Forth married Timothy Jenkins with Alice & Eric
Henchey, Elliott Barry, Bonnie Johnson and Jill Gary in attendance.
Lance decided to go one step further with the announcement that
another member of the Adams family is due in late May/ early June
2002. Best wishes to one and all.
Throughout the course of the summer we had a number of former
campers and staff who either stopped by to visit or dropped a
note. We are about to embark upon a huge revamp of the website so if
you would like to add something to the alumni section please send us a
note. If you have pictures you would like to share feel free to send
them along as well! Finally, if you know of anyone who would be
interested in catching up with camp or our off-season events just ask
them to send a note our way.
