Training for Eco-Challenge?

One of the fringe benefits of having a summer with very little rain is that the Tripping program has had a banner season. Without any inclement weather to hamper the trip leaders, numerous hikes have gone out to the White Mountains, Ossipee Range and yes, even Mt. Major.

Although the lake has been down a record levels, we still have managed to get Trail trips out to Pine Island thanks to our intrepid helmsmen Jeremy Adams & Gary Christman.  Of course, every Junior has also spent an overnight at Chase's somewhere across the Canadian border J

Peak Baggers

The Adventure Trippers led by Todd Fournier and Haydn Griffiths conquered the entire array of Presidential peaks after warming up with the Carters. As they descended from Mizpah Springs they met up with the LIT's led by Josh Otlin who were beginning their own odyssey on the Southern Peaks. We are all looking forward to more trip reports from these two contingents at future Sunday campfires!

Can You Canoe?

Whether it is on a far flung adventure to Lake Umbagog and the Richardson's or just an overnight to Cow Island, there has been a small renaissance in canoeing that will form the foundation for next season as we continue to strengthen the program.

Hey, Check out the Broads!

A hardy band of mariners ventured forth from our protected little cove to take on the vast expanse of Lake Winnipesaukee on our first sailing trip of the season. Under the capable leadership of Admirals Paul Cornwell, Renny Waldron and Dan Jones the North Woods flotilla spent a day sailing the Broads and camped out overnight on Sandy Island.

Congratulations to Matt Brown, Nate Baran, Dan Broadley, Alex Bishop, Alex Chigas, David Koepke, Evan Johnson, Peter Gilbert, Jean Begin, Tom Hatton, David Kupsc and Jose Valdivieso for taking on the challenge of the high seas!

Bar Harbor or Bust...

As if Todd Fournier and Paul Cornwell haven't been adventuresome enough this summer, they led a group of future Lance Armstrongs on a nine day cycling tour of the Maine Coast.  Camping out under the stars with the sea breeze blowing, visiting quaint villages by the sea and exploring Acadia were just some of the highlights of this foray into a new form of North Woods trekking.

"All in all it is going to be a Great trip!"
