Peter Abrahams - We (Nathaniel) also has a website - www.nattyd.com

Aaron Adams is married to the former Rachel Parker from Alaska and they have two children, Chris and Athena.  Aaron and his family currently live in Auburn, WA and Aaron works for the computer help desk at Weyerhaeuser in Federal Way, WA.  If you'd like to see pictures of the family, please visit his home page

Jeremy Adams - Camper 87-93, CIT 94, Staff 95-99.  Every now and then I think about camp then think "hmm, so this is how you fall off the radar.  I always thought it would be harder to become uninvolved."

Teaching is a blast.  I'm teaching English and coaching lacrosse at Assabet Valley Technical High School in Marlboro, MA.  Amanda and I live in Framingham.  I've been wrapped up in my job, coaching, professional development (classes through Simmons, remotely, and Framingham State), and climbing, of course. Recent trips include Rumney and Cathedral Ledge, as well as some craggin in Tennessee in the winter.  This summer I'll be running an outdoor education/writing program for students with language-based learning differences through The Carroll School. I hope to return to camp as a staff member some day to lead canoe and kayak trips on Winnipesaukee and enjoy almond butter on rye in The Great Hall.

Jim & Ann Adams - It’s definitely past time to update the info on the Adams clan! Jim and Annie are still at the high school, hoping that Jim’s mother will soon win Powerball so that we can retire!

We have had a busy year – daughters Maria and Sara both got married, Maria in August to long-time beau Tim Shea. They are living in Denver. Maria teaches 3rd grade at St. Thomas More School, and Tim is a lawyer in a local firm. Even though they love the skiing in the Rockies, their long-term sights are focused on NH or VT. Sara (Belletete) married Aaron Abitz in November – in Jamaica, no less!! They still live with son Ethan (4½) in St. Louis, but we have hopes that they will return to the Northeast sooner rather than later! Lance and Leah now have 2 children, Sophie (2½) and Owen (8 months). The children share the same birthday – Cinco de mayo! The family will be moving back to NH in the spring – yahoo!!!

Aaron and his two children, Christopher (almost 9) and Athena (4) still live just outside of Seattle. Aaron is some sort of computer guru for Weyerhaeuser. Beth (Belletete) is in her second year of medical school at New York Medical College in Valhalla – only 6 or 7 more years to go!! Lisa (Belletete) is in her 4th of 5 years at Northeastern, right next to the Boston Y. She is studying athletic training. Nick is in 9th grade, is finally taller than his mother and all of his sisters and almost as tall as his father and brothers!! He was on the golf team in the fall and is currently playing basketball. He missed camp last year – but is hoping to be an LIT this year. Even though we only get to camp a couple of times a year – the memories of our summers on the shores of the Big Lake are some of our most treasured ones.

Lance Adams - I am currently living in Seattle with my wife, Leah and two children. Sophie Lillian Adams was born May 5th, 2000 and her younger brother, Owen Edward, was born on Cinco de Mayo, 2002. Lance works as a Civil Engineer.  "Life is good now and the memories of camp and the lifelong friends are a big part of that..."

Rich Adams - (1976-1984) is still living in spectacular Teasdale, Utah, working as a field instructor with troubled teens.  I bought a home two years ago, so I plan to use this as my base-camp for a while!  Any visitors to canyon country are welcome to drop in and spend the night while visiting the desert, mountains and National Parks in my neighborhood...as impressive as it all is, early morning swims in ineffable Winnipesaukee remain among the most cherished memories of my life.  It was a special treat to visit NW with my Dad and see so many old friends and their families at the reunion in 1999!  It's also nice to see so many folks with entries here on this page!  Thanks for being in communication with the world!

Rick Adams - (Camper 1948 - 52)   I just read the Where R U page and didn't see any names I recognize from my era.  Heck!  I'm retired and spend half my time in Bali, Indonesia (even greener than "the pines that tower over all!"), and the other half here in Troy, NY.  Mainly I gather and distribute radiance. Lots of my family went to NW: brother (Wink), son (Scott), nephew (Rich).

Mario Aldrey - I am getting ready to study my next two semesters of architecture at L'Ecole la Seine in Paris.  I'm still doing a lot of hiking. I had  been in Ecuador, climbing  the Cotopaxi, one of the most beautiful volcanoes of the world. I might be visiting NW camp this summer because a group of friends and I are planning  to go to Yosemite to do some rock climbing and then we are going to stop in Boston.

Fred Albert (1969 -1976) After graduating from Yale in 1979 I moved to Seattle, where I am editor of a regional magazine called Seattle Homes and Lifestyles. I've also written two books--the most recent, BARKITECTURE, is a collection of designer doghouses from across North America. My spouse and I live on an island in Puget Sound, and get back to New England about once a year, but, sadly, never make it to North Woods. I think of camp often--especially in the summer--and harbor fond memories of (most of) the people I knew there.

By the way, my brother David, whom some of you may remember, lives outside of
Philadelphia with his wife and 3 kids.

B

Mark Badolato - Attended NWC for summers '80 through '84.  In '84 I was CIT, with Mike McCarthy as my counselor!  I've been living in Scottsdale Arizona since 1992 with my wife of 4 years, Sandy.  No children.  One golden retriever, and 1 cat.  I work as a software developer creating Internet applications, which I've been doing for the past 4 years or so.  I was utterly amazed at how many of the names I recognized on the Alumni page!  Equally amazed that Mike McCarthy and Dave Goodwin (another of my former counselors)  are still up there! To everyone that I knew so long ago, "hi!"

Chad Baker - I just finished up my junior year at Vassar and I will be in Boston for the summer working as a manager for the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation at a facility in Cambridge. I am majoring in film for now, and then when I finish up at Vassar I hope to go to Northeastern for grad school and study social justice/social work.

Elliott Barry - NWC-1983-1990, 1992-1994
I am enrolled in the MBA program at Babson College's FW Olin School of Business. Before returning to school, I worked as the Director of Business Development for the Portland Sea Dogs (AA affiliate of the Florida Marlins). I am looking forward to getting up to camp as much as possible and taking advantage of having some free time over the summer. I will be done with school in May of 2001, so if you are looking to hire a newly minted MBA please feel free to contact me.

Mike Barry - I was the waterski instructor from '75-'79. I left North Woods August 28, 1979 and just retired from the military after 21 years.  What I would do to take a trip to the good old NW!

I sure neglected to put a lot of things about myself when all this alumni stuff got started.  Well where to I began, I guess the best way to do is to break in down in the form of a timeline

1975--Fishing Instructor straight from California and my first meeting of Nate and Tony, and Fred the "Three Amigos"
1976--Trail 8 Head Counselor, Paul Bunyan (those were the times)
1977--Head Water-ski Instructor on a Boston Whaler much less with the help of Steve Gordon
1978--Senior 1-2 my first of many trips to Pine Island my first time meeting a friend I have had for life now in Frank Ferraro and family
1979-- A bittersweet summer as it turned out to be the last, as I left camp and went to join the Army.
I have been married for 21 years and have four kids Mehgan(19), Katie(17), Daniel(16), Ryan(9).  I live just outside of Baltimore and would love to hear from anyone and everyone.  My phone number is 410-672-6055 and email also is a great thing. All and all it has been a great trip. Thanks for the memories.

Geoff Bolan - I'm now married to Lynn Schnaiberg (she got the North Woods tour with me a few months ago).  We've spent the last 10 years together living in Spain, Washington D.C., and now Chicago.  Still spending as much time as we can in the outdoors, although Chicago (home now) is lacking for anything resembling mountains.  My family and many friends are still around the Boston area so we get back to New England 2-4 times/year.   Wishing life was as simple as the North Woods years, but we are very happy.

Nick Bonugli - Those were the days... From camp hellion to respectable man... hehehe...Every damn year I tell myself..."That's it Nick, this year you are going up to camp to see the old faces..." and every damn year, something comes up. But anyway...I haven't kept in touch with anybody with the exception of Jason Ditzian...and for that I apologize... The "old faces" as I said, will always hold a place in my heart. I remember my first year as junior counselor... I believe my cabin was Blackfoot... By the way, to jog the memory of some people, I'm the one who put the black foot on black... check the back of it... I am currently living in Somerville, MA... What do I do for work?...hehehe...I'm multi-tasked and multi-titled... I work as an Estimator for a large construction company out of Boston... I look at blueprints all day and crunch numbers... My titles are as follows...2nd Chief Estimator ...Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer...Quality Control Representative (for my company on the Big Dig and Central Artery Project)... and finally construction ultrasound equipment operator...

John Botting - Susan & I are doing well and since leaving camp we returned to the UK, collecting our car and headed across the channel to Europe. So far we have travelled through Northern France, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Luxemborg, Belgium, Netherlands (caught up with Inger Ruijgt), Denmark (stayed with Joan Dalsgaard, PVC '99), Germany (also Sarah Schuller, PVC '99) and are now in St. Anton, Austria. The ski season ends at the beginning of May and from then we plan to continue our travels throughout Italy, Southern France, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Turkey.

Jay Broadnax - I spent 2 enjoyable summers there in 1972 and 1973 in “Cherokee” and “Trail 8”.   After graduating from Brown in 1984, I worked in Information Systems at Polaroid for 11 years.  I then went to Boston University School of Theology to study for the ministry.  I’m enjoying life as a Pastor of a church in Lynn MA, where I also live.  I have been married to my wife Ingrid since 1990, and have a 5 year old daughter named Dara.  I credit North Woods as being the place where I learned to swim, and made a lot of good friends there.

Peter Bryson - Hello all at North Woods, thanks to David Goodwin for his recent card and sorry I couldn't make the Alumni meeting in London. It was and still is a good feeling to have regained contact with the camp after about ten years. At least I think 1990 was my last camp experience as Trail Section Head.

I am now a Programme Co-ordinator for Save the Children based in Ireland but working across the European region. Since 1990 I did a Masters in Comparative Conflict and then went on to do Training and Mediation work here in Ireland and throughout Europe. In some ways North Woods was the beginning of a long road which I continue to travel on.

I was married last year to Deepa and we have settled or at least based ourselves in a small village near the mountains of Mourne in Northern Ireland. This location allows us the luxury of access to both the sea and great hiking. Although the White Mountains still live in my memory.

Best wishes to Jim, Anne, Mike, Dave and those of you who remember the Irish from 89/90.

C

Charlie Caliri - is currently in his 4th year as a chemistry and biology teacher at Revere HS, he is also the Freshman's Boys Basketball Coach and the Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach.

Tony Caliri - works for the Somerville Public Schools as the Human Resources Manager.... "I will always have such fond memories of North Woods...the two summers I served as Program Director there... were two of the best summers of my whole life.......my wife Janet and I have a second home on Newfound Lake in Hebron NH......just love being up in NH...."

Ruben Campos - I'm studying electronics engineering in the Simon Bolivar University in Caracas. I am doing quite alright (it's not as fun as camp though, but I like it). As for my brother, I think he's already registered for sessions 3 and 4. I wish I could go visit sometime this summer, I'll see if I can make some time to go at least for a couple days.

Ryan "Loppy" Carroll - I was a camper and a CIT and was invited back to be a counselor, but couldn't make it. Hey everyone. Glad to see so many people doing well. I am currently living in Los Angeles working on a TV show called "The Apprentice", so I am out in NYC a lot, too. City life in LA and NYC can't hold a candle to the peace and calm of a North Woods summer. I'll have those memories forever. Thanks to everyone. If anyone is in LA or NYC, gimme a shout.

Dave Cayem - is living in Westborough, MA with his wife Pam and three daughters (including newborn twins). After graduation from Boston University in 1987, I spent ten years in the radio news business. My second career is in the Internet business. I'm currently working for Delphi.com in Cambridge. I've seen Aaron Deykin and Howie Katz in recent years, but would love to hear from others.

Alex Claudino - Hey, Wow!!! I just got your e-mail, and I decided to take a look at the camp site. I can tell you only one thing: how I missed camp!!!!!!! Anyway, happy new year and new millenium, for you and all the NW&PVC community. I'm working as a gymnastics coach in academy near me. I'm doing great, I was in Sidney with one of my gymnasts, being  member of the Brasilian team at the Olympic Games. All this had taken all my time, and still do so. I will try harder  to keep in touch...Please send my regards to Terry Orr, Jim Adams, Marty Stanton and of course, Mike Mcarthy.
and everybody else I have met in camp. Hope to hear from you soon.

Eduardo Cobian - Hi, everybody!  I am currently the President of Spain, and I might try for another four years, but this kind of life is really exhausting, I was more happy at camp. Hey! It is true, you can read it in the papers! In my free time I am a lawyer and I go to court and all that, but it´s not like the movies and I don´t have sexy clients with extremely liberal minds. One of these years, I'm not sure which, is the 75th anniversary. I think it's a good excuse to travel to the States, and I hope I can see most of you. I miss you.

Peter Cravath - Glad to visit your site, and relive a few memories of some wonderful times. I attended NWC from 1961 to 1967.  Starting in Jr, Trailer, and into Forestry and the Wilderness Patrol were summers to learn, grow, and look forward to. Sunday sing-along songs, were mostly Kingston Trio tunes, and whatever else Jon Landau and his crew could muster. San Francisco Bay Blues anyone?  I continue to enjoy hiking, camping, and outdoor photography.

My wife Judy and I, live in Hoffman Estates, Illinois; a Chicago suburb.  Not exactly mountainous, but there's plenty to see in the area.  Camping, and fishing are favored recreations.  Currently, I work in the electronic component industry as a custom products manager.  Hopefully, we'll get back to the White Mountains soon.  Tons of memories there.

Cary Croopnick sent this fantastic letter chock full of news.

D

Mirek Debniewski - I'm in Poland now.  I went to Los Angeles after camp, spent a good time visiting Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Venice beach and many Hollywood attractions (also took part in talk-show studio session as an audience member).  I lived in an international hostel in the heart of Hollywood, making friends with people from Japan and Brazil there.  Later I spent a week doing sightseeing in New York.

Tony De Luz - sent us a wonderful note. Here is but a brief excerpt. "It was great fun, learning how to make things at Shirley's woodshop classes, learning to sail, shoot rifles, hike, and use a bow & arrow. Not to mention dancing with a girl for the first time, at one of the dances!"

Steve DeWitt - Hello everybody. Hope there's at least a few of you guys that remember me. I was the Assistant Chef at NWC in '75 & '76. Those were two of the best summers of my life. Sometimes it feels as if they were a lifetime ago, and sometimes it feels like they were only yesterday. The most fun times at NWC were the Sunday night staff basketball games. The best times, well that was sitting down at the table on the kitchen porch sharing conversation and a cup of joe with Traylor Rodgers and Tony Mirenda. Hell, I would give my left arm to be able to do that again. Currently I live and drink in southern New Hampshire and work in the telecommunications field. At least I've convinced my boss that I work. I go to Vegas two or three times a year and usually vacation somewhere out in the Rockies. I still enjoy cooking, a good laugh and I still follow the Mets. Would love to hear from any staff member or camper who shared those two summers with me. Peace be unto all of you.

Keith Dingley - sent us a wonderful letter. Here is an excerpt: "It was way back around 1972 that I spent a fabulous 8 weeks at North Woods Camp. Although my staff shirt has long since bit the dust, I still have some very fond memories of the camp, the counselors and even the kids in my bunk. I still have the camp yearbook in one of my dusty files."

Stan Doerrer - (NWC 1991-1995)  After finishing up at Colorado College, I decided to continue living out west.  For the last two years, I've been working at a large management consulting firm in Denver and have been traveling extensively throughout the country.  I miss summers on the Lake, though, and would look forward to bumping into some of the other alums that have scattered around the US....

Joe Dooher - (1987-1998) I graduated from Providence College in May 2001 with an accounting degree.  This August I will be heading down to Baltimore with the Capuchin Franciscan Volunteer Corp.  I will be teaching first and second grade at a small catholic school, St Ambrose.  I plan on continuing to visit camp for some time to come and hopefully will return for a few summers as a counselor.

Matt Dooher ('85-'96) I am living in Boston with my wife Jen (PVC '83-'84) and working as a firefighter and paramedic in the 'burbs (I am also campaign manager for Eduardo Cobian's re-election run).  It's good to see some news on old camp friends. I had a great experience with camp and hope everyone is well.

Steve Dorsey - Well, 2001 finds the Dorsey family looking forward to another summer at NW! Traci (PVC camper and staffer in 80s-90s) and I were able to show our daughter, who we believe is the first pure bred NW/PVC baby the place where her parents met.  She had a wonderful summer at camp and learned to crawl up on the rifle range mats!  She has been growing like a weed since and just turned 1. Traci and I look forward to returning to camp for Taylor's second summer (or is it her third?).  I will be involved in the infirmary and rifle range next year, and look forward to seeing you all then.  See ya!! Steve

David Drazen - (1989 - 1995) After graduating from Johns Hopkins, I am now working towards a PhD in Physical Oceanography from Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego, Ca. While studying waves in Southern California is nice, I do miss the East Coast, and look forward to the day when I can be back in New England when camp is actually in session. If you're in the area, drop me a line.

John DuMoulin - (NWC 1978-1985, 1987). John lives in Rockville, MD. He's been there for the last 8 last years, working as a lobbyist for a medical association in Washington, DC. He's been married to Maria (a doctor in her pathology residency) for 4 years now, but no kids yet. John hopes to re-connect with you all at the reunion weekend in August.

Julien Dutartre camper in 1995-1196 and a CIT in 1997. I am still french and still living in Paris. I am a partner of a little fashion firm called Van Holl - we have a web site www.vanholl.com - and it is the first time this year I will fly back to the US since I got back from NWC in August 1997. I hope I will have the opportunity to come and see how is the camp going. I was very happy to be a camper at NWC and very proud to have the opportunity to be a CIT there. I still have my American Red Cross life guard card and my CIT T-shirt, I keep them as souvenirs. I also have a picture of the entire CIT team of 1997 with our boss, Ross Weene. Thanks a lot for everything.

E

Adam Elboim - Hi all! What a great network - so glad to see so many names. Anyway, I'm now living in San Francisco with my girlfriend and commute every day to wine country for work (long but gorgeous commute). I run a mobile medical services business that consumes most of my time. We just acquired a firm in Phoenix and we're rapidly expanding over the west coast, so I'm getting to see a lot of the country. I still keep in touch with camp alumni every now and again. I just heard from Dave Halleran (who is living in Madrid) that he's been traveling around Europe visiting other NWC and PVC alumni. He sees Eduardo Cobian sometimes, and he is looking for more people to join him. I'd love to hear from anybody who wants to chat, or who has lots of money that they want to invest in my company. Hope everybody is successful and enjoying life.

F

Carlos Falcon - We the Falcons (Hector, my brother, and I ) and Claudio Mendoza went (to camp) that year (1960). The Mendoza's ( Emilio & Claudio) went back the year after; and we had the information about the camp from the Rivero kids that went there the year before. We will be there next year hopefully, this year we are building our new home.

Jonathan Feinberg - I spent nine amazing years (1971-1979) as a camper and counselor at NW. After graduating UNH (just couldn't get enough of the state) and stints in the hotel and radio business, I have now settled in Washington, DC. I would really enjoy hearing from counselors who knew me as a camper, campers who knew me as a counselor, fellow campers and counselors - all of whom have made for some fantastic memories.

Ken Ferrier - I'm not really doing anything right now.  I guess you could say I'm walking the earth, like Caine in Kung Fu.

Adam Finelli - I am spending time in Boston working as a videographer.

Lukas Fiser - I just arrived home (Sept. 2000) but now I have only a week to have a rest and then I have to join the army for a year.

Neville Fleurs - My wife, Lorraine and I  were introduced to camp in the summer of 1999. Coming from South Africa where "Camp" is not that big, we were thrilled beyond words with the camp experience at North Woods. We were back for the summer of 2000 as proof of how much we enjoy camp. Many times we reminisce about the relaxing summer nights spent gazing across the calm lake. We have made many friends and hope to maintain contact after summer.

Since leaving camp last year, we've entertained overseas visitors form Santiago (Chile), Spain and the UK.  We've also holidayed at one of the best resorts along the famous Garden Route. Lorraine is still actively busy enjoying her Arts and Crafts classes, viz. woodcarving, leatherwork and rubber stamping, not forgetting the advanced embroidery work. Meanwhile I'm kept busy with Choir work at the church, interspersed with my gym classes and tennis games. Can't wait for the summer of 2001 when we will be back!!.

Jordan "Jordie" Foster - Trail Section 1974-1976 or thereabouts. I'm bouncing between Wall Street and Acting/Writing in New York. Went to Penn for BA and MBA. By brother, Jon Foster, is in New York as well. He attended North Woods from 1974-1977.

Peter Frankudakis - I can't remember the exact years that I attended camp. I believe it was 1976 through 1982, as a camper and counselor. I have great memories of North Woods. The friends, and experiences will always remain special to me.

Well, what have I been doing since 1982??? I'll try to keep it brief. I graduated from Assumption College, in Worcester, MA. I played four years of varsity soccer and lacrosse. After college, I landed a job with an investment firm in Boston. One year later, I transferred to Newport Beach, CA with the same firm. Over the next several years, I switched careers twice, played semi-pro soccer and enjoyed life in Southern California. Unfortunately, I never took to surfing.

Which now brings me to the last six years, when I took up running. I have completed six marathons and four ultra's. Through running I met my beautiful wife Karen of 2 and a half years. We live in Foothill Ranch, CA with our 19 month old amazing daughter, Katie Ann. Foothill Ranch is in South Orange County. We are nestled at the base of the Saddleback Mountains and only 10 minutes from Laguna Beach. We have one pain in the ass cat and a very mellow dog. I am currently a Director of Indirect Sales for Verizon Wireless's Southern California Region. My wife Karen is a Partner at a law firm.

Matt Frary - (Junior - Counselor, 'til '89):  I'm living in Los Angeles, CA with my girlfriend who is fighting to become an actress.  I work at a high-tech public relations agency as a Senior Account Executive.  I've been focusing on video games -- yes, it's tough.  I've been handling games from id Software (such as Doom and Quake) as well as other video game hardware I can't even tell you about yet (!).  Anyway, it's a long way from being a counselor in Trail 1.  I'd love to catch up with the rest of you especially the undefeated age 10-12 basketball team from '89 -- let me know when you come to LA and hopefully see you at camp soon!

Ron Friedman - It seems that I have spent more time at NWC unofficially than officially, but I was a Senior Section Counselor in 1982.  In one tumultuous summer I learned more of life’s lessons then in any one time of my life, and for that I am very grateful to North Woods.  I live in Mt. Laurel, NJ with Vicki, my wife of 11 years.  We have two beautiful boys, Brandon 7 and Brian 5.   I run a document management company that I founded in 1992, ACES Imaging Systems www.acesimaging.com and it keeps me busy when I’m not running from one kid's game (Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Roller Hockey… you pick it.) to some other kid's activity.  Steve Todaro and I still make our Memorial Day weekend trip (almost every year since the mid-80’s) so if you like to catch up, go to camp at the end of May; we will be there.   Hope to see you there.

Dave Fuente - After a summer away from camp I'm now living in Indianapolis doing a 10-month graduate fellowship at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.  Although life in the Midwest is treating me well, I truly miss the hills of New England.  I am happy to say that in the past few months my close friend Josh Otlin has taken his degree in Feng Shui.  In a joint effort we are dedicating our free time to the development of a business plan of the Feng Shui Institute for Youth we hope to open in the spring of 2007. Donations warmly welcomed.  Hope everyone is doing well and in good health.

Rich Fynan - Rich and I (Jonathan Grier) are doing well- we are in Cleveland with Rich's uncle. It was a sad day as our Lincoln broke down and died.  It lasted all the way to Niagara Falls - in all we did about 1500 miles in it.  Oh well, we went to MONTREAL--TORONTO--KEN'S --NIAGARA.

David Glass
I attended North Woods as a camper from 1976-1981.  I was the youngest camper during the summer of '76 and a member of the Iranian team (!) in the big Camp Olympics.  I was always at camp with some or all of this group of friends (David Gordon, Jim Andelman, Josh Marchette and Danny Getz.).

Sadly, Dan Getz passed away suddenly last year.  He was an expert in Indonesian politics and culture.

I have great memories of camp...learning how to waterski...catching a huge bass in the lake and having Trailor cook it up for me (best fish I've ever eaten!)...the bathroom facilities on Pine Island...swimming to the buoy...snipe hunting...donut eating contests...and so many more.

I live in Maryland with my wife of 13 years and two spirited daughters, ages 5 and 7.

David Goodwin
All in all it has certainly been a great trip! I never imagined that I would travel from Lakeside as a junior to the Farmhouse as director. It has been an honor and a privilege to follow in the steps of those who came before me. Not a day goes by when I am not struck by the power that North Woods has to evoke wonderful memories in those both young and old. Last summer was particularly special as Loretta and I introduced the next generation of Goodwins to camp! For those that enjoy baby pics, just click here.

Nat Gordon - (1992 - 1999) This summer I'm just keeping it real up in Syracuse, NY.  I am currently working at the Global Affairs Institute at Syracuse University while working on my degrees. I think about camp all the time and all the great memories it has given me.  As I am currently attempting to grow up, I keep thinking back on North Woods and how at camp life was so much simpler.  I wanna send a shot out to all my boys from NW and my girls from PVC and to all those who will be holding it down on the lake this summer.  If anyone wants to get in touch with me just send me an email.  Also, feel free to ask about my trip to Tijuana last spring.

Stephen Gordon - In June of 2001 I retired from a most enjoyable thirty-three year career as a guidance counselor at Melrose High School. I had a wonderful summer during which I spent some time helping at North Woods and Pleasant Valley camps, then I took a nine day trip to Finland where I was hosted by former NW counselor Kenneth Bergman. We toured, swam, rowed, cooked, talked, spent time in those wonderful Finnish Saunas, hiked, cruised to Stockholm and spent a day there, talked some more. "All in all it was a Great Trip!"

I am back in Brookline, MA now adjusting nicely to retired life. I am into an every other day exercise routine, am reading more, will soon begin to study piano again. I have started a project as a volunteer at the Camping Services Branch where I will be working to update our alumni lists - since the project is all mine, I can do it at my own pace going in and working for a few hours whenever it is convenient for me. (If you know the whereabouts of any North Woods alum who are not listed, tell them to get in touch).

Most importantly, I am in good health, have some wonderful friends and look forward to many years of happy retirement. Through it all, North Woods Camp is and always will be the most significant place in my life.

Richard Green - Somehow I stumbled across our camp website this morning and was immediately transported back to camp and I could have sworn that I heard the laughing loons as well. I was a camper from 68-71 and a counselor in '77 teaching sailing.  I have now lived in the DC area for the last 8 years and have been with Marriott hotels for about 15 years,  kind of ironic considering the Marriott compound is our neighbor on the lake.  Still single, I enjoy a very full life serving on several association boards,  just completed a 2 year term as President of the Alumni Board for my undergraduate institution The University of Denver. I Would love to hear from some of my old camp cronies, and can be reached by email or 202-518-7957.

Stuart Grimes Just though I would drop a line to let people now how I'm doing. Finished the University thing and am settling into working life (it's no fun, stay in school kids!). Have a job with the environment agency at the moment but hope to move on to bigger and better things. Wish I could make over there to NH at some point. Keep on having fun.

Jon Grossman - I attended NWC circa '66-'67 with my younger brother Carl.  I live in Bethesda MD and work in Washington DC.  We have three kids - Ali age 20, Matthew age 11 and Danny age 6. We generally get up to New England a lot, but are too lazy to drive much past Cape Cod.  I'll never forget experiencing the NWC "snipe hunt" (can still taste it) and junior life saving.
H

Chris Hayden - I would like to say that I did meet up with John Moise in New York and we had a very nice time.  I will send photographic evidence as soon as I have it.  I, on the other hand, have just returned from Ayia Napa in Cyprus and  I had a great time. I go back to work at the nightclub this week.

Matt Heffernan - My wife Amy and I have been married almost 13 years and have 2 children. Brian is 6 and Anna is 3.  We live in Richmond, Virginia.  I am working as the Director of Operations & Technology at WTVR-TV, the CBS affiliate in Richmond. I love the excitement of live television.  I have gotten regular calls from Andy Doyle for Scholarship campaigns, always good to hear from him. (Somehow I always ended up a little lighter in the wallet after I hang
the phone!)  If anyone is in this area, feel free to drop me a line. Attended North Woods as a counselor 80, 81 and 82.  Horseboy Alum!!

Larry Heller sent us a wonderful letter.

Keegan Hellweg - I am currently in my last year at the University of Oregon in Eugene. I had a great time last summer as C.I.T. director. Studying way too hard and fishing... well not enough. I'll be back to visit sometime this summer and go for a cast in the lake. It was great to see everyone at Elliott's Xmas get together, hope everyone is well.

Eric 'Bobo' Henchey - (NWC 1981-98) and Alice (PVC 1982-95), a Pleasant Valley Alumni, were married in May 1998. They are both still very involved with camp.

Alan Hoch - I was a counselor in 1974 - 75. I am a partner at the law firm of Donovan Hatem, LLP in Boston, MA. I have three children, 12, 10 and 7 and I live in Groton, MA.

Jamie Hodder - After ten Phish concerts I am back at Ohio State and for the first time am living in a house off campus.  Classes started Sept. 20th, and I already can't wait for summer 2001.

Scott Hyman - was a camper from 1982-1984, a CIT in 1985, and a counselor in Junior and Trail sections in 1986. He writes, I am currently residing in Sherman Oaks, California, making video games. I've been developing art and animation for video games for 6 years now, and have lived in both Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

Adam Jaroszewski - I am back in Melrose again for my senior year.  My sister and I (and parents, too) went to visit Wake Forest and Duke universities last weekend.  That was great.  I'm currently studying hard, lifting (of course), and thinking about colleges.  I have talked to a bunch of camp people since I have been back, which is always good. I counting down the days until camp as always.

Howie Katz
sent this note from Michigan.

Danny Keough - I'm in my final year at Exeter University studying Spanish and French, considering a teaching qualification and work abroad in the next couple of years. Hopefully a return to camp will fit into the proceedings next year (summer 2002). Until then keep that kitchen clean, my dears! Best wishes to all!

Greg Keohan - I just finished up my first year at the University of Richmond in Virginia. This summer my family is moving from Reading, MA to Gilford, NH; North Woods will be just a boat ride away! I'm looking forward to summer '02, it's bound to be one of the best ever.

Jarred Kennedy - (1989-96)  I was last at camp for a day during the summer of 2000 and it was great to see so many familiar faces. With all of the moving I did as kid, going to North Woods every summer gave me the continuity of friendship I would have lacked otherwise; and for that I remain truly grateful.

After completing my undergraduate studies at Harvard in 2000, and working for 2 years at a management consulting firm, I will be heading to Harvard Business School as a member of the class of 2004. I am very much looking forward to being within driving distance of camp once again.

Rob Klein sent a wonderful note.

Andy Klickstein - I spent six summers at North Woods - from Junior to Jr. Counselor. I did my first woodworking with Shirley, and have gone on to build boats, furniture, and additions. I learned to sail there, and was lucky enough to do that for a living for several years. I haven't been back since 1975, but the recent mailings of newsletters and info have really brought those summers back to mind. It sounds as if you and everyone associated with the camping program are doing a wonderful job keeping the mission alive and thriving. It really means more to me than I imagined to realize that North Woods is still there.

Matthew Kwiatkowski - (1991-96) Camper, CIT and SI Staff in '97. I have realized in the last 6 years, how much I miss the atmosphere at North Woods. I think that the experiences that I encountered there, made me into the person that I am today. I am living in Philadelphia as an Urban Designer/Landscape Architect. My memories of North Woods are fond and I will make sure that my kids one day will have the same experiences as I did. I just wanted to say thanks! North Woods will always be in my heart!

L

Ted Lane - sent this holiday greeting!

Bob Larson - was the Waterfront Director at the camp in 1976-1977.  A lot of water has passed over the dam since then.  I currently live in Knoxville, TN.  I have a wonderful family.  My wife, Jean, is the Librarian for the Webb School, a private school in Knoxville that is Kindergarten through High School.  I have two children, Megan 15 and Anthony who is almost 13.

I am the President of Alcoa Inter-America Inc., a subsidiary of Alcoa that manages our international businesses.  (By the way, Alcoa was the leading gainer on the Dow last year.  Not bad for an old metals company.) Hanging on my office wall is an old black and white picture of me teaching basic swimming strokes to a bunch of North Woods campers who are now in their 30s.  I'd love to hear from anyone who remembers me.  Best of luck."

Claudio Lilienfeld - I attended 4-week sessions in 1972, '73 and '74 (I was 10, 11 and 12) and hadn't been in touch with anyone about NW (although I regularly thought fondly about NW over the years.)  I live in Alexandria, VA, and work in the Office of the Secretary of Defense doing foreign policy work - much of the last decade I have worked in the area of humanitarian assistance (from within the Dept. of Defense).  My wife works for the Smithsonian.  And, my son LOVES nature.

Dave Lucas - (NW '92-'95) I'm finally married, living in Melrose and working in Wakefield as an attorney.  Half price on all divorces for NW men who married PVC women!  I only wish I could find the time during my busy summers to volunteer at camp for a session.  I wouldn't even mind being a cabin counselor in the junior section!

M

Norm Marcus - I was a camper at NW from approximately 1960-65. This summer, we enjoyed lunch with Loretta et. al. I can still hear the Reverend Shirley teaching the proper way to hunt snipe. I am now an orthopedic surgeon practicing in Northern Virginia. To say that NW was an influence in my life is quite an understatement.

Ken Margolin - I was a camper (Trailer and Senior) from 1960 - 1963, a C.I.T. in 1964 and a Junior Counselor in 1965. I'm a lawyer, married 25+ years, with two girls, ages 19 and 22. I owe Nate Todaro a thanks I wish I gave while he was alive, for helping with a sense of respect for self and others and a reverence for the mountains and the natural world. North Woods gave me a love for the woods and hills I keep today at 58 years old. My wife and I hike regularly - Mt. Katahdin last year and I do not forget North Woods, Nate and Tony Mirenda too.

Best to all past, present and future North Woods campers and staff - especially those who know how to select the proper rocks and sticks to bang for a snipe hunt.

Andy Mason - Hey fellow campers, both past and present. I attended North Woods from 78-81. Blackfoot with Jon Feingold, Trail 2 and Trail 6, and Senior 1-2 (how did I remember that ? ) not sure. Anyway, I have been living in Framingham, Ma for almost 12 yrs. Married for 10 to my wife Carrie, with 3 children (Danika 7, Marcus 5, and Sarah 2). There has not been many campers I have bumped into. David Longcope, who lived in my home town of Northboro, Ma and Howie Katz about 7-8 yrs ago in Marshall's in Framingham. I have been with Toyota for 8 yrs, currently at Wellesley Toyota , previously at Bernardi Toyota. P.S. Has anyone seen or heard anything of the infamous DOGBODY???????? I have fond memories (and I say that with much sarcasm), sleeping in the forestry tent. Having an unknown thing or person(s) hitting the outside of the tent, and Steve Todaro saying that his scar on the side of his stomach was indeed from dogbody (good one Steve).

David Mawdsley - Thanks very much for the nice newsletter and invitation to The 2000 Oldtimers Weekend. It takes me back to when I was at North Woods Camp when I was 8.  I'm now 60.  I can still remember the swimming and canoe competitions, the sailing competitions, the mountain trips, the snipe hunt, the rifle and archery competitions and the wonderful campfires.  Oh to be 8 again back at North Woods Camp!  However, I can still do all of those things at 60--many of those things I learned at Camp.

Of all the decisions made on my behalf by my mother and grandmother putting me in North Woods Camp in New Hampshire was the very best.

Unfortunately, I'm booked right through to the end of June.  I have final exams to write and grade and then wrap up my career with retirement this June.  I just can't spring the time block to visit this year.  However, if the event is held again next year, I will find a way to get to North Woods Camp with my gear.  Thanks again for the invite.

Bill McCarthy and his wife Arnaa have two children: Lev (6 1/2) and Rami (3+). After teaching for the past 16 years he is now the Business Manager at Cambridge Friends School. Spent 10 summers after North Woods working for a dance camp. First time since 1970 that he has not worked at a camp.

Keith McCarthy - received his ten year jacket upon completing his duties as assistant camp director in the summer of 2001. He still teaches the sixth grade in Rockport, Mass and recently sold the Peabody condo and moved back to Gloucester. The lure of camp hasn't lost its hold on him. Keith plans to return to North Woods in 2002.

Fred and Susan Morhart - We are both retired after 30+ years of public school teaching in Fairfax County, VA.  Maybe a claim to fame might be our restoration of a slum in the old part of Alexandria.  The project is on-going (since Peter Mazonson was our first house guest in 1976).  We get to NH about once a year and were stunned by the microburst damage and delighted with the postponed reunion last summer.  This year we will be in France and Switzerland (for a wedding) at the end of August, our usual visit time.  We would love to hear from old timers back to 1954.

Andy Morris - Hi, I worked at North Woods in the Summer of 1995 and have just found this website. It would be great to hear from some of the people that made that summer so special. I carried on to complete a degree in Sports Science and after traveling much of the world am now working as a Bank Manager on the island of Jersey in the UK.

All the best to everyone.

Joel Mumford - I was a camper at North Woods in the late 1950's. I had a chance to visit a few years ago and the staff that was on duty could not have been more accommodating. I had a wonderful hour walking around the camp reliving old memories and being surprised at how little the environment had actually changed in some 40+ years.

N

Josh Needleman - I was at North Woods from 1975 to 1979...I am currently a Pediatric Pulmonologist at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY.  I am married to Yael Levy.  We have one son and a child on the way.  Still my North Woods memories are some of my fondest and frequently my wife and I compare our memories of our respective camps ( I always feel that North Woods was the best)

Peter Noymer - (1975-1982) I'm living in San Jose, CA, with my wife Grace and son Ben.  Grace and I both work in biotech and are enjoying California, but we miss New England.  Ben was born in October 2000 and is big, happy and a ton of fun.
O

Charlie Okstein -('57-'63) After 20 years as a pediatrician practicing in Connecticut and Arizona, I worked for some large computer firms developing and marketing clinical applications. I’m now semi-retired and enjoying life here in Tempe, AZ.. One of my daughters attended PVC for a few years. NWC was unquestionably one of my most positive experiences and I treasure a photo album of some great hikes! Love to hear from fellow alums!

Arthur 'AJ' O'Leary - I got the internet on the 30th of December and I love the website! I have written to many camp friends and would love to hear from any who remember me. I'm working in terminal-B at Logan Airport.

Robert Oren - (1966 - 1973) sent a note from the West Coast.

Terry Orr - I recently have started a new position with an environmental consulting firm called Environmental Science Services Inc. (www.essgroup.com).  It is an 80-person firm, equally split between Wellesley and Providence.  I am working as a Project Manager in the Land and Coastal Development practice - I will eventually be doing a lot of the type of work that was involved in the planning and permitting we did at POC and the Wetlands Board in NH.

Josh and Rachel Otlin - are currently living in Hopedale, MA.  Josh teaches social studies at Hudson High School, and Rachel teaches special education at Fuller Middle School in Framingham.  They're looking forward to a trip to Russia and Bulgaria in April, and will continue the adventures as they explore the USA this summer.  Josh has not yet completed his degree in fung shui, but is well on his way.

- After college, my hiking days started to change into bicycling days and it wasn't long before I put my Peter Limmers away and began taking my bicycle to Europe for two week tours. I designed and led trips during my vacations, all to western Europe and twenty five tours later still enjoy the sport. I took out the Limmers two years ago and did some hiking in the Grand Canyon. They still fit although they are truly vintage equipment compared to the modern boot.

After living on the east coast all my life, I moved to San Jose, CA  in 1981. This is a really wonderful place with the ocean 30 miles away and Olympic skiing three hours away. But the magic is that we leave home with oranges and lemons growing in the front yard and don't see snow until an hour from the slopes.

My wife and I are living the west coast life and wouldn't leave for anything. I invite any alumni who spent time with me at North Woods to get in touch.

Rob Pearce
- After travels through the States after camp I am safely home and back at university.  I can verify that Chris Hayden and John Moise did find each other in NY as the three of us, along with Christie Reynolds, spent three days in NY before they all went home.  I, on the other hand, stayed until the 5th of Sept. and managed to get up to Niagara Falls for a day, which was well worth it.

Gordon V. Penniston - I was a camper in 1980 and a counselor in 1981-83. I'm living in Rochester, NY, with my wife of 13 years, Linda. I telecommute to Virginia every day, while my 4 cats and 2 dogs keep me company.  I'm also into Toastmasters, working my way up the ladder there in public speaking and leadership.

My webpages are http://www.geocities.com/josiedalmatian and http://www.geocities.com/wackedpenn

Jim Phillips - (Forestry '67, CIT '68, Jr. Aide '69) I live in Washington DC with wife and two sons but we make an annual pilgrimage to the White Mountains for hiking every summer.  My brother Richard (Forestry '69) now captains a ship in the Merchant Marine and lives in Vermont with his wife and 2 kids.  Brother Michael (kitchen crew in the mid-1970s) is an account executive living in Massachusetts with wife and son.

Charles Pick - (Camper 1972-1975, CIT 1978) Since my son came along in 2001, I have been thinking about North Woods alot. I suppose I wondered if it was still around. Much to my delight, I found the website and the thoughts of everyone else on this page that mirror my own. It is not easy to tell anyone that a summer camp had the most profound formative influence on me...more so than any school or university. I trust that my boy will go to North Woods despite the fact we live in the San Francisco area. I learned how to sail at camp and continue by racing my 10 metre on SF Bay. I am an architect and work in various disciplines including affordable housing. To all the greats from my time there and those who are obviously carrying the torch, all the best. Call me if in SF and want to go sailing.

Norman Regg - I'm not doing much, just working and working and working. And playing football. I'm still in PA.  Will leave the US in January next year (2001), but will come up to camp next summer. Take care. I really had an awesome time this summer.

Adam Robb - My wife and I recently bought a condo in Haverhill MA.  I am still working for Cingular Wireless, but I now work in downtown Boston at 33 Union St.  We have a little boy named Will who was born on Oct. 24, 2004.  Life is going well.

Jurrit Rodenhuis - sent a letter, updating us on his activities.

Jayson Rogers - College is wonderful, it's like camp, but with a lot more homework :)

Fabio Romero - '89 - I am currently living between São Paulo and Guarujá (close to Santos, a beach city, one hour drive away from São Paulo). Things are pretty busy over here. I got married 7 years ago, got no kids yet, except for 7 dogs. Hey, I keep 4 of them in my country house, where I got a trendy and huge "organic food kitchen garden", read "free of agrotoxic products". That´s a business I´ve set up with my family some time ago, really cool. Good thing is now it runs on its own, I mean, it´s just automatic.

James Rutherford - (1958 - 1977)  Still living in PA just southwest of Philly (I cut up all the boxes when I moved here so I'm staying put) but I finally decided it was time for a career change.  I'm now a financial consultant with A. G. Edwards & Sons in Media, PA, and loving it.  Of course, anyone in need of a financial consultation is more than welcome to Email me.  I'm registered in all of the Northeast states from Maryland on up, so give me a call.  Now all we need is a few more of us "old-timers" to share some news.  I too remember Sunday sings with Jon Landau, et. al.   I guess I even "led" them for a while.  Following in my brother John's legacy, I also led the "choir".  Heaven forbid.... Still miss Traylor's donuts--never found another one like his!  Nothing like a stomach full of those, sausages, and coffee to get you going (heh, heh) on a cold August morning!  If you're passing through the area (Philadelphia) and want to stop by, give us a call -   610-891-8280.

S

David Salem - Camper 1967- 71, Junior Counselor 1972, Counselor 1973. Fond memories of New Hampshire from my years at NWC may be one reason that my family and I have settled in Hanover, where my wife Eleanor teaches romance languages at Dartmouth.  Following college at Middlebury and law and business school at Harvard, I entered the investment management business in 1982.  In 1992, the MacArthur Foundation made the inexplicable mistake of handing me a wad of dough to pursue my dream of starting a member-controlled investment cooperative for endowed non-profit organizations.   The Investment Fund for Foundations (www.tiff.org) currently manages in excess of $2 billion for over 300 charities worldwide, including several that are helping to preserve the unblemished portions of the NH woods that I so much enjoyed as a camper and NW Forestry counselor.  My three children (Caroline born in 1985, Peter born in 1987 and Virginia born in 1989) and I hike regularly in the White Mountains, on many of the trails that I came to know well during my NW years.  Many thanks.

Kerry Saravelas - I am an alumnus from 1954. I was Waterfront Director and a Senior Counselor when Wilbur Storer was Camp Director. Shirley Goodwin was then in residence too! Who would have thought that years later that I would become and ordained Greek Orthodox priest? I met Shirley at a function once and he couldn't believe it either :oD [He has a great church website.] Though I haven't been active in reunions, etc. until now, I certainly am planning to participate starting this year. I guess as one gets older, the GREAT memories of North Woods and all the fabulous people I met there, become more and more important to me.

Pat Sturgis - lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, "where my wife & I are partners in a natural foods restaurant & market -- Beans & Barley (now going on 27 years). Some of my family still lives in New Hampshire, and I enjoyed one after-season visit to North Woods several summers ago. I would enjoy getting e-mail (or "snail") mail from anyone who was there then and/or remembers me, from the early and mid 50's."
T

Dan Tarlin - (At camp from 1978-89) I live with my wife Lora and three boys, Solomon (born 1995), Isaac (1997), and Max (1999) in Sharon, Massachusetts.  My brother Jeff and I have made it to camp the last two summers with our oldest children, who are the same age.  I hope they are able to go together in 2004. My time as a Counselor, Section Head, Waterfront Director, and Program Director showed me the way to my career, working with troubled kids in residential treatment.  I work at Wayside Youth and Family Support Network in Framingham as the Clinical Direcor of a program for adolescents (check us out at www.waysideyouth.org).  I encourage anyone interested in the field to drop me a line!

Jeff Tarlin and wife Richelle live in Framingham with their sons, Lee and Eric. Jeff works in Marketing for Fidelity Investments, and still wonders how and why he moved from Head of Trail Section to the corporate life.

Sam Tarlin is living and working in Brookline, MA as a buyer in a Jewish bookstore and art gallery. He is still not quite as tall as his brother Dan but is expecting to get there any day now. Sam and his wife, Sarah, recently became parents again, this time to a son, Judah. The adjustment has proven difficult, but no tougher than being a counselor in the Junior section, or worse yet, one of Mike McCarthy's CIT's. His big sister, Annika (2+), has had an easier time adjusting and is looking forward to visiting NWC one of these years with her cousins.

Nick Taylor - 1992 - 2002.  I am about to graduate from Norwich University.  Upon graduating I will be commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy.  I am very excited to start this new stage of my life, but as I think about the future I am forced to look at my past. I have very few memories that do not include NW.  I will miss the hills of NH, but at least the Navy is distracting me by sending me to Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, HI.

Sean Therrien - Well, things are going pretty well. Classes are getting hard, and are a lot of work, but I like them. Unfortunately I have not been sailing lately. But, my father sold his house in RI and we now live in Moultonborough. I have seen Diana (Marinova) and she is doing well. She is actually coming to Plymouth State and seeing how some of the courses are taught here.

Mark Thomson - It had been quite a long time since I visited - probably about 15 years.  It brought back some great memories - especially the honey glazed donuts!  It was sad to hear that Traylor Rodgers had passed away as he was there when my Dad was a camper in the late 50's and then during my time in the late 70's - what a legacy!  Now that I know, it would be great to get back there for an Alumni weekend.  I would love to relive some of those memories!

Steve Todaro - I'm not sure if the summer (1961) I was born at camp counts. If not, I was "officially" there from 1974-1983. Too many great memories and lifelong friendships to mention. I've been married to Kathleen for 12 years.  We have a daughter (Julie) 10 and a son (Mark) 8. Both are growing up quickly and enjoy the treks north to camp. I hope it's only a matter of time before they join the third generation of Todaros at NWC/PVC.  We live in Medford NJ, where I'm in my 17th year in sales with Canon USA . Summers are now spent "Down the shore" in Avalon NJ. Which has limited trips to camp  to Memorial Day work weekends with 70's alumni. Those trips are still a highlight of the year and a great chance to catch up with my cousins (Linda, Andy, Tina, Di & David) and their kids......... "One eyed Dog"

Harvey Turner - I am Living in Saratoga Springs New York with my wife Mary Solomons and our 7 year old son Nicholas. I am the Director of the Psychiatric Unit at Saratoga Hospital, and Mary works as Director of Alumni Affairs at Skidmore College. Nicholas is in first grade at Lake Ave Elementary school and loves it. Our "big" passion is the restoration of our 1867 Victorian Home, whom we share with our adopted Greyhound "Rainbow" and our Cat "Midnight". I have fond memories of North Woods, and spending four summers on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. It's great to see its still going strong. For those who remember me...Email me!

Richard P Turner - (1956 - 1959) I am a retired Navy Veteran of 20 years and a veteran of the Vietnam War. I recently donated $2,000 to the Wayland Veteran's memorial in honor of fallen comrades who I served with as a coxswain of armored troop carrier T-152-13 (a unite of River Assault Squadron 15 river division 152). I made the donation at a public meeting and with this donation the memorial fund has raised $87,000 toward the construction of the memorial. I am serving on various town boards and committees while being a cable station operator while living and taking care of my father in Wayland Mass. Our adhoc memorial committee has finished its work and disbanded and now that winter is behind, we can look to spring and the summer camping season.

Julian Ferris Vollbrecht - writes that he has been really busy with College taking a number of hard classes including Statistics, Chemical Processes, Electronics Engineering, Robotics and Modern Control Systems. And I am still receiving German classes (in the Goethe Institute). Shamefully, I think I will not be able to go to North Woods this year because I have to work in a factory during the whole summer, and that is something they ask in College as an obligatory working experience.
W

Nick Wankowicz - I would really like to get to a work weekend this year, but don't know how realistic that would be now that Cindy and I have THREE kids. I am pleased to announce that we have successfully brought our new daughter, Gabriela, home from Romania. She is a wonderful girl, and so are our two boys. It was quite an experience flying to Bucharest and picking her up a the orphanage. It really makes you realize what a great country America is.

Martin Weaver - I'm looking forward to February, it will be great to see everyone again.  I really miss camp.  I'm trying to keep in touch with as many people as is possible at the moment via email.  My studies are going quite well at the moment, better than they did last year.  Even though the work is harder and there is more of it, I think it helps my motivation now that I also have a job because I need to plan my time better.

Ross Weene - (Camper '89-'91, CIT '92, Staff '93-'97) I quit my lousy engineering job a couple years ago, sailed on the Tall Ships from Miami to Montreal, and went back to school for Yacht Design. I finished school in spring '01, then spent a month in Costa Rica and some time volunteering at camp. This past fall I moved to Newport, RI where I am working with a sailboat designer - Rodger Martin Design. I am forever indebted to North Woods for it was there I learned to sail. NWC also taught me that life's too short to do anything that you're not psyched about.

Larry Weisman - (spent summers 1965 - 1970 as a Junior, Trailer, Senior, CIT, and counselor) Just read the alum updates, real flashbacks! Bob Oren, Dave Salem, Robert Green [a pudgy little camper of mine!] Steve Gordon, Fred and Sue....!  Great memories of North Woods, the beauty of the camp.  My last visit was in the eighties with my motorcycle posse [!}. We swam, hiked around,  would have loved to sneak into the kitchen late at night to steal a fresh loaf of Trailor's bread!  Where are Ross Marvin, Tom Lawless, Bruce Croopnick? I'm living in Newton, MA, with wife, 2 teenagers and a pretty nice life.  Hope to read more on these pages from time to time. Would love to hear from others of that "vintage".

Joe Wright - ('97 to '99) Graduated with a degree in Sports Science in June 2000. I'm currently on a round Australia trip with Michelle.  We have driven around 5,000 miles so far from Perth to Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra with Melbourne to come then back to Perth.  Its been an amazing trip we have seen and done so much.  We met up with Haydn in Sydney which was great and stayed with Kelly. So a small reunion on the East Coast of Australia. Hope to make another summer at North Woods in the future. Note to the CIT's of '99, email me sometime guys.
